Sunflowers of Dorothea Dix Park
Saile and I are finally feeling settled in Durham. We have been praying and praying for a community here, and God has answered our prayers even more abundantly than we ever could’ve imagined. Vintage Church has quickly become a home for us and we have met some amazing people through it. The first Sunday after I moved we went to Vintage, made small talk with some strangers, and got invited to Beth’s birthday party before we even knew who Beth was. We felt a little awkward about it, but we decided to push ourselves outside of our comfort zones and meet some new people. It’s funny to look back on that first Sunday because who would’ve known that Beth would now be one of my closest friends here!
So I guess my biggest advice to anyone who is starting over and moving to a new area would be to push yourself outside of your comfort zone to make new friends. It’s pretty uncomfortable at times, but it is absolutely worth it because we are not meant to do this life alone. In order to feel at home in a new place you need friends and a new family who will be by your side through the good times and hard times. So thank you Beth and all our new friends in Durham for being that community that we have been praying for.
Here are some new photos from this last week when Beth and I decided to explore the sunflowers in Raleigh. I love living in a new city cause there are endless opportunities to explore and try new things!
